Yunus Emre Institute in London warmly invite you and your family to enjoy Karagöz & Hacivat Shadow Play, performed live at the comfort of your homes. The play will be performed in English on Sunday, 19 April 2020 and in Turkish on Thursday, 23 April 2020 in celebration of ‘April 23: National Sovereignty and Children’s Day in Turkey’. A great way to keep the kids entertained at home whilst introducing them to a long-standing tradition!

About the project:
Karagöz & Hacivat Shadow Play is an educational project launched by Yunus Emre Institute in London that aims to promote an understanding and appreciation of Turkish culture as well as establishing a bridge between students coming from different cultural backgrounds.Karagöz & Hacivat is a traditional Turkish shadow play which performed in a relatively dark hall on an illuminated, white screen. Performer Ada Burke is a British actress, born in Turkey. Since joining Yunus Emre Enstitüsü – London, she has completed her training in Bursa, Turkey and has been performing Karagöz and Hacivat in Turkish and English on behalf of the Institute.
