Dash Café: ¡Catalan!

Join artists, filmmakers and academics to explore the impact that the independence movement and an increased attention on the complex Catalan political situation are having on contemporary art and identity in Barcelona today. Guests include actor Bea Segura, Pau Ros photography, Camera Catalonia curator Ramon Lamarca, and University of Leeds’ Chair of Spanish Studies Duncan Wheeler. There will also be award-winning short films (including Los Desherados by Laura Ferres, Best Short at Cannes 2017) and music.

Dash Arts creates artistic experiences that change the way we see the world. Founded in 2005 by Artistic Directors, Josephine Burton and Tim Supple, Dash Arts has emerged as a unique international creative force, producing new theatre, dance, music and art events in collaboration with exceptional artists from abroad. Our current programme of work – EUTOPIA – is investigating what we mean by Europe and what it means to be European. Through our Dash Cafés, Gigs, Dash Euro-Squat and future productions, we will explore Europe’s diversity and hidden marvels; confront generalization and encourage new insights and fierce debate. Dash Cafés are informal and free events offering the chance to encounter new ideas, surprising perspectives and unusual artists who shed new light on the regions we explore.
