Carmen Linares, one of the greatest voices of flamenco, is to visit us at the Instituto Cervantes on the occasion of the London Flamenco Festival to launch her book/CD set dedicated to the great Spanish poet Miguel Hernández (Orihuela 1910-Alicante 1942).
Verso a Verso is a musical tale of the poet who died prematurely, both as an artist and a man, in one of Franco’s prisons. The album exudes intimacy, with Pablo Suarez’s elegant piano, Salvador Gutiérrez’s flamenco guitar, Josemi Garzón’s contrabass swing and Karo Sampela’s brilliant percussion. Compositions are by Luis Pastor, Pablo Suárez and Carmen herself. A further two invited guest voices must likewise be highlighted: Sílvia Pérez Cruz and Arcángel.
On this occasion, Carmen Linares will be joined by her manager Miguel Espín and her distributor in the United Kingdom.
In Spanish and English.
