As world leaders convene in Portsmouth and Normandy to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Allied landings in France on 5-6 June, the Institut français pays tribute to author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry who died during summer of 1944. His great-nephew Olivier d’Agay will evoke with best-seller author and British translator of Le Petit Prince, Michael Morpurgo, how war and writing intertwine in both their lives and careers – from military aspirations at Ecole Navale and Sandhurst to literary calling, and the birth of masterpieces such as War Horse and Le Petit Prince.
The talk will be followed by a concert by violinist Bomsori Kim, winner of the 62ndARD International Music Competition, accompanied by pianist Matthieu Esnult. They will perform some of Saint-Exupéry’s favourite scores.
