Punctum contra punctum – A concert by Simone Vallerotonda

An afternoon of early Renaissance music celebrating the life and work of Raphael, at the National Gallery, Room 32

ICI London has collaborated with the National Gallery in organising this solo concert by lutenist Simone Vallerotonda, dedicated to Raphael and the composers of his time, on the occasion of the major exhibition opening at the NG on 9 April. ‘Punctum Contra Punctum: Symmetries and visions in the Italian Renaissance’ celebrates the period, over 500 years ago, when nature and religion were at the heart of Italian art, architecture, music, and poetry.

Vallerotonda’s programme features music by Vincenzo Capirola, Marco Dall’Aquila and Francesco Spinacino, played in the sumptuous surroundings of Room 32.

Simone Vallerotonda is an award-winning lutenist from Rome. He has performed internationally at venues including New York’s Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Conservatorium, Teatro de la Ciudad in Mexico City, the Singapore Lyric Opera, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, London’s Wigmore Hall, and the Theatre de Champs Élysées in Paris. In addition to his solo work, he founded the ensemble, I Bassifondi, and he is Professor of Lute at the A. Pedrollo Conservatory of Music in Vicenza, Italy.
