Internationally renowned as a leading sculptor, this is Swiss artist Not Vital’s first major exhibition in the UK. With studios in the tiny Swiss village of Sent and Beijing, China, as well as homes in Rio de Janeiro and Niger, the exhibition reflects Vital’s nomadic and diverse practice, including paintings and works on paper, indoor pieces made from plaster, silver, gold, marble, glass and coal, and outdoor sculptures in stainless steel and bronze.
NOT VITAL is the first major UK exhibition and largest museum project by the extraordinary and enigmatic Swiss artist.
Taking place at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, the exhibition will feature new works, specially developed for the Sculpture Park’s indoor and open-air spaces. These will be shown alongside a selection drawn from the last thirty years of Vital’s career.
Having spent time exploring the landscape of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Vital has created a site-specific work in the form of an aluminium bridge that will stand as a long-term legacy of the exhibition.
