Miguel Araújo, a prolific singer and songwriter known for combining Portuguese music styles with classical and contemporary musical instruments have scheduled his first major UK concert at The Barbican on 28 September.
Even when performing to large audiences, Miguel Araújo’s music always has a certain intimate quality to it – the delicate sound of his guitar imbued with the power to lift the soul. Here he is joined by six of Portugal’s best musicians; respected masters of their respective instruments, the band playing an eclectic mix of strings, piano and clarinet fused with glockenspiel and a wide variety of world percussion.
Outside of his acclaimed solo career – which spans two Gold albums to date, with a third scheduled for release in April 2017, Miguel Araújo is a well-respected songwriter who has written for many of the Fado greats, including Ana Moura, António Zambujo and Carminho.
