Come & Sing the Victoria ‘Requiem’!

Did you know that choir practice is healthier than yoga?

If you are an amateur singer passionate about classical music with some prior experience of choral performance, treat yourself to an uplifting one-day workshop on 11th November. On this day of national Remembrance we will be working on a performance of Victoria’s monumental ‘Requiem’ to be held in the beautiful acoustic of the Wallace Collection’s sumptuous Great Gallery. Come and see what this feel-good craze is all about – it’s the perfect opportunity to exercise and socialise! Known as ‘The Spanish Palestrina’, Tomás Luis Victoria (1548-1611) is considered one of the most important composers of the late Renaissance. His ‘Requiem’ is one of the most astonishing-ever settings of the Requiem Mass, replete with grief and passion – the summation of both his art and the Spanish sacred choral tradition. You’ll be amazed how quickly you can learn a new piece with the help of our friendly conductor Aidan Oliver – one of the UK’s most sought-after choral directors, he is director of the Philharmonia Orchestra’s professional chorus, Philharmonia Voices, and his engagements as guest chorus master include the BBC Symphony Chorus, BBC Singers, RIAS Kammerchor Berlin, English National Opera, and Huddersfield Choral Society.

Members of the public are welcome to attend the final concert performance at 4.00pm
