The finest songs from the master of the modern chanson, Jacques Brel, will come alive at the Camden Fringe this August when a trio of singers present their cabaret revue, ‘Alive and Brel’. Brel’s music, famed for its emotional power and ironic wit, has been recorded by stars ranging from Frank Sinatra and Dusty Springfield to David Bowie and Marc Almond. The show features iconic hits such as If You Go Away/Ne me quitte pas, Jacky and Amsterdam. Delivered in the intimate setting of Camden’s Etcetera Theatre, Brel’s songs, laced with dark and passionate observations which paint a tableau of imperfect humanity, are guaranteed to bring a smile to your lips or a tear to your eye. Songs are sung in both English and French.
