Drawing (for) Europe

Leading figures of children’s illustration, such as Axel Scheffler, Stephanie Blake, Claude K. Dubois and Patrick George give us their vision of Europe in this exhibition. This pan-European initiative, now lead by the Pulse of Europe movement, was launched in 2017 by German publisher Moritz Verlag during the Frankfurt Book Fair, in order to demonstrate the kind of community, solidarity and cooperation that make the EU today. Monet and Architecture

Exploring a New Dimension The National Gallery, in association with the Institut français, presents an international academic conference to coincide with the Gallery’s exhibition, Monet & Architecture. Day one opens with a lecture by André Dombrowski (University of Pennsylvania) on the representation of the “instant” in Monet’s depictions of architecture and modern infrastructure. Day two will explore the theme of the exhibition further enhancing or challenging its premises. Fri 27 Apr 6pm at the Institut français Sat 28 Apr 9am-5.30pm at The National Gallery

European Literature Salon

French writer Jakuta Alikavazovic (L’Olivier), British writer Claire-Louise Bennett (Fitzcarraldo), German writer Esther Kinsky (Fitzcarraldo) and Music & Literature editor(and former Man Booker International judge) Daniel Medin will be discussing non-narrative fiction in European writing today and the importance of translation in a salon style event including readings and conversations. This event is part of Beyond Words Live French Literature Festival 14-21 May 2018 at the Institut Français.
