With her raw yet lovingly drawn stories and a musical accompaniment, the German Comic author Aisha Franz takes us on a journey to fictitious places where characters demonstrate in a sometimes tasteless manner how absurd and trivial our reality is.
The Comic Performance of Aisha Franz is a kick-off event to the East London Comics And Arts Festival (ELCAF), which runs from the 22nd to the 24th of June 2018.
ELCAF is supported by the Goethe-Institut.
Aisha Franz lives and works in Berlin as an illustrator and comic book artist.
In her works, she blends personal everyday life experiences and greater existential questions, only to conclude that the world we live in is a very strange and dark, yet hopelessly funny place.
After Earthling and Brigitte and the Pearl Treasure, Shit is Real is her third graphic novel and has already been translated into French and English. In addition, she has both self-published and contributed short comics to various international anthologies. She has been teaching Illustration and Comic Art at the Kassel School of Art and Design since 2014.
