Kourtney Kardashian

Kourtney Kardashian – an opera (sort of…)

Award winning Spanish performance company Sleepwalk Collective return to the UK in February with their new show Kourtney Kardashian, a love/hate letter to outrageous luxury and artistic genius and also the joyous, dreadful punchline to a joke that’s worn so thin that you can see right through to what’s on the other side of it…

It draws on a conceptual ace card hidden in the family history of one of the artists and danced playfully around the rules and conventions of classical opera, with an orchestra of laptops, a multispeaker sound system chorus and performers with second voices carried on their bodies.

Kourtney Kardashian follows a ballet called Kim Kardashian (2016), and a stage play called Khloé Kardashian (2017), as the final part of an accidental trilogy of performances about high art and celebrity and our increasingly tenuous grip on reality in the 21st century.

Sleepwalk Collective is an award winning live art and experimental theatre company creating fragile, nocturnal performances between the UK and Spain.

“Beautifully unsettling, chilly and hypnotic – Lynchian in its ability to create something of this world and yet not.”

Circle&Stalls (on Khloé Kardashian, 2017)

“A bold and beautiful new theatre for a brave new world”

Total Theatre Magazine (on Domestica, 2016)
