During a beautiful Mediterranean summer, Rhino and his gang steal a cache of gold. They believe they have found the perfect hideout, an abandoned and remote hamlet now taken over by a woman in search for inspiration. Before long, a pair of leather-clad motorbike-riding gendarmes arrive on the scene, soon turning this haven into a gruesome battlefield. The latest delirious exercise in lovingly retro pastiche from Brussels-based writer-directors Helene Cattet and Bruno Forzani is a relentless and mind-blowing adaptation of Jean-Patrick Manchette and Jean-Pierre Bastid homonymous crime novel.
