Egidija Medeksaite’s new piece at BBC3 Open Ear

Explore new and experimental music this January as the intrepid Sara Mohr-Pietsch guides us through energetic and unusual musical works.

Hear nine-piece ensemble Decibel perform intensely rhythmic and fragmented contemporary classical before Tom Pauwels draws us into the mysterious sound world of bowed electric guitar and electronics.

Then journey north as Eliza McCarthy reveals shimmering mountain peaks in John Luther Adams’ piano work Nunataks and Cevanne Horrocks- Hopayian intermingles traditional and contemporary music from East and West.
