Distant Light: Amalia Hall and the United Strings of Europe

For the first-ever performance of the NEW HORIZONS International Artist Series, the United Strings of Europe will be joined by distinguished New Zealand violinist Amalia Hall. Hot on the heels of a tour to Lebanon with the United Strings of Europe (20-26 Feb), the evening features Amalia’s only concerto performance in Europe this season. The programme includes exciting works from Latvia, New Zealand and Lebanon, some of which have been arranged by the ensemble’s leader Julian Azkoul who will be directing the performance.

Schubert Quartettsatz (arr. Azkoul)
Vasks Violin Concerto ‘Distant Light’
Khoury ‘Et le vent qui souffle’ (UK premiere)
Farr Mondo Rondo (arr. Azkoul)

The event is supported by Arts Council England, the Centre for Lebanese Musical Heritage and the New Zealand Society UK.
