Commemorating Juan Rulfo in his Centenary

maxresdefault

A talk with Prof. Alberto Vital and Andrew Dempsey on Juan Rulfo, one of the most prominent authors of twentieth-century fiction in Spanish. His works, compelling in their depth and originality, occupy a foremost position within the Mexican canon. Additionally, Juan Rulfo was a gifted photographer whose pictures constitute a sensitive and inspired chronicle of the Mexico he lived in.

Alberto Vital is a professor and current Humanities Coordinator at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He is a specialist in the works of Juan Rulfo. Noticias sobre Juan Rulfo(2017) his biography of Rulfo, is essential reference in the field.

Andrew Dempsey is an art curator and former director of the Hayward Gallery. He has curated numerous important exhibits in the UK and abroad, including most recently El fotógrafo Juan Rulfo at the Amparo Museum in Puebla, México.

This event is a collaboration between the Centre for Mexican Studies (UNAM) and the Instituto Cervantes.

The talk will be in English. Please RSVP here
