A Woman’s Life

A Woman's Life

Institut Français presents a screening of “A Woman’s Life”. Judith Chemla offers an unmissable performance in Stéphane Brizé’s compelling adaptation of Guy de Maupassant’s classic, Une vie. She plays Jeanne, a young woman full of childish dreams and innocence who marries fresh out of the convent. Her husband Julien soon reveals to be a miserly and unfaithful man. Little by little, Jeanne’s illusions are stripped away.

This screening is presented as a part of Institut Français’ Beyond Words Live French Literature Festival. The words in this festival will be as bilingual as we can make them, using all that live literature can bring to go beyond the printed pages and out into a world that spans from France to Mauritius and from Spain to the Far East, crossing through decades of history. From book to stage, from page to score, from script to screen, and beyond…
